Lughnasadh is
the harvest festival in the old calendar. It is the festival of Lugh,
who created the festival in honour of his stepmother Tailtiu. It is the
festival of the assembly on a height, and even until fairly recent times,
the people of rural Ireland would have gathered on the first Sunday of
August to celebrate. It is associated with horses, racing and games. To
this day, there are many mountains named after Lugh. He is a god of great
importance throughout the Celtic world, and we will be studying his tales

covering the aspects of death and dying, and therefore it will be held
over a weekend, commencing on the Friday. Students will gather at "Bruideann
na Re Lan" at 4.pm, and put up tents. A light evening meal will be
