Now, at the time of Beltainne, the light season of Samos has arrived. We gather together to celebrate the return of the light and the victory of the summer sidhe over the hag and her winter minions. We thank the crone for the winter gone, but turn now to the goddess in her guise as mother of fertility and abundance. We acknowledge the ancestors and leave a gift in offering to them.
This festival would have been as important to our ancestors as Samhain. One heralded the beginning of the dark half of year [giamos/Samhain], and now at Beltainne we welcome the beginning of the samos/light half.
